Camino Crossfit (Day 9 - Najera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada (21 km))

What a day - so much fun and enjoyment. I stayed at a great hostel as I wrote yesterday and had a good nights sleep. Not at all annoyed by the snoring, probably because I have really good ear plugs.

As usual I woke up at 6 and start packaging, and was at the streets at 7:00.

Met Colin at a coffee shop where we had double expresso and a crossaint. Again I must say that these freshly baked crossaints are so amazing and I still dont understand why we cannot get them at home.

After a couple of km with good pace we cathed up with Rachel the California girl and the three of us walked the hole way to Santo Domingo de la calzada together. That was so much fun and great discussions.

We stopped for second coffee and breakfast after about 5 km

The walk continued with great landscapes.

And at some point, we decided it was time for Camino Crossfit! Colins normal 100 pushups was not enough, so not it is dayly Camino crossfit starting today. See the video for inspiration :-)

More walking and great landscapes and conversations

And then we decided for some more fun - plank competition. Who can do longest plank. The three us us participated and we got an unknown german to participate as well and got a judge and speaker to do the recording. You can see the winner in the below video - I will not tell who it is but say that I did a personal record of +3 minutes.

So much fun with Colin and Rachel today, these spontaneous events are so great - and we also did a slow motion running recording.

We arrived early in the end destination after 22 easy km with strong sun - and we got our cold beer and lunch at the town square. I got very lucky there because a bird made a shit on me - and in several countries that means good luck.

We ate home made dinner made by Meerel and the dutch sisters at the hostel, and Pedro and I provided cooking oil, cheese and chips. Rachel party crashed the dinner and brought local red wine - so it ended with a spontaneous dinner in the sun at the hostel where we all shared what we had.

The cameratery is so great. Everyone shares what they have and we all help each other. It is a fantastic feeling and experience.

After dinner we went into the church tower and looked over the town. Unfortunately we got a bit too late to get into the Cathedral. The hole city is having a story about chickens, and there are two living chickens in the church - and even at the hostel there are many living chickens.

The clock is now 20:30 and I am having my alone time and sitting at the hostel and writing this blog.

Hostels close at 22:00, and everybody goes to bed typically between 21-22. Tomorrow I will start as usual around 7, and already have booked a bed. The day after tomorrow - the town has no bed left, so it will be interesting to see where we will sleep. But that is long into the future and the camino is all about living in the present.
